We provide the following medication administration classes; Med Admin 1, 2, 3, and recertification classes.

Medication Administration Classes That Meet DODD Requirements

Our Nurse Educators hold certifications from the Department of Developmental Disabilities, authorizing them to instruct in Medication Certifications levels 1, 2, and 3. 

Prior to DODD Medication Administration Certification, initial or renewal, developmental disabilities personnel must submit a completed training application to the Registered Nurse (RN) Trainer. The application must be filled in completely, including employer and personal information and required signatures.

Developmental disabilities personnel with incomplete applications are not eligible to attend DODD Medication Administration Certification training.

Mandatory Requirements Before Acceptance Include:

    1. High School Diploma, its equivalent, or college transcript
    2. Completed DODD Application Form
    3. Valid Photo ID (Driver’s License/ State ID/ Passport/ Permanent Resident Card)
    4. Enrollment Agreement – Review and Sign
    5. Valid Email
    6. CPR and First Aid Completion (5 Hour Class)

    Caregivers Training reserves the right to reject applicants if the admission requirements and procedures are not successfully completed.

    Medication Administration 1 Class

    This course, spanning 16 hours, is tailored to train personnel in developmental disabilities on the safe administration of medication and 13 legally sanctioned health-related activities. Direct support professionals must acquire specific certification for the administration of the majority of medications and treatments. This certification necessitates annual renewal.

    Medication Administration 2 Class

    This 4.5-hour course aims to equip developmental disabilities personnel with the necessary education to be delegated nursing responsibilities for feeding and administering medications through stable labeled Gastrostomy / Jejunostomy (G/J) tubes. It covers understanding the equipment and procedures for feeding and medication administration via G/J tubes, as well as the care and maintenance of these tubes. Prerequisites for this class include having a current Medication Administration Category 1 certificate, a background check, and a high school diploma.

    Medication Administration 3 Class

    This course, lasting 4.5 hours with an additional 1-hour recertification, is designed to teach developmental disabilities personnel the safe administration of insulin and to understand the pathophysiology of diabetes. It also includes training on using a glucometer, the significance of diet and exercise, documenting insulin administration, and other related topics.

    Medication Administration Recertification Class

    We offer renewal classes for all medication certifications. The prerequisites for renewal include passing a background check, possessing a high school diploma, consistently performing tasks safely and accurately, and maintaining certification as a Registered Nurse (RN).

    Medication Re-Certification 1: $60 (2.5 hours)

    Medication Re-certification 2: $60 (1.5 hours)

    Medication Re-certification 3: $60 (1.5 hours)

    Certification Requirements

    Medication administration training is quantified in classroom hours, and students must complete the designated hours for each program. For certification, a student must demonstrate adequate knowledge by scoring 80% or higher on a closed-book, multiple-choice examination.

    Class Cancellation Policy Should a class be canceled due to the instructor’s illness, extreme weather, or issues at the training facility, students will be contacted using the phone number provided to the RN Instructor.

    If a class is canceled by the instructor, students will be informed about make-up dates via phone or email. It’s important for students to update their contact details if there have been any changes since their registration and approval for the training.

    Cancellation/Refund Policy A full refund (100%) of registration fees is available if cancellation occurs at least three business days before the class begins. Refund requests must be submitted by 5 pm on the third business day, either via email or fax. The RN instructor or office manager will contact the person requesting the refund. Refunds, processed within 15 days of the cancellation date, will be issued through US mail.
